Good to know
Flexi hose
questions.
How long do flexi hoses last?
Manufacturers typically rate braided hoses for around ten years, and many carry a date stamp on the fitting. Tasmanian water, cabinet chemicals and constant mains pressure can shorten that, which is why a visual check matters more than the date alone.
How do I know if mine need doing?
Look for rust or brown staining on the braid, frayed or broken wire strands, kinks, bulges, or dampness around the fitting. If you can see broken strands, treat it as urgent, because that hose is already failing. If you cannot remember when they were last done, they are almost certainly due.
What does the $375 include?
Replacing every accessible flexi hose in three rooms: the kitchen, the bathroom and the laundry. That means under the sink and vanity, behind the toilet, and at the dishwasher and washing machine. New hoses, fitted by a licensed plumber and pressure tested before we leave.
Why replace them all at once?
Because they are usually the same age. Hoses installed together have spent the same years under the same water pressure, so when one is at the end of its life the others generally are too. Doing them in one visit means one job rather than four, and nothing left waiting to fail.
How long does it take?
Most homes are done in a single visit. We arrive with the replacement hoses on the van, work through the three rooms, pressure test every connection and clean up before we go.
